Floor Care Tips

Your new floor is easy to take care of and can stay beautiful for many years with just a few tips:

Remove any sand or grit with a dust mop or vacuum with a soft bristle brush.
Protect high traffic areas with flooring mats or rugs.
Wipe up spills and accidents immediately with a clean damp cloth.
NEVER use liquid floor wax or Oil based cleaners on your polyurethane floors.
Remember you are cleaning the artificial surface on top and not the wood.
Always use floor protectors under furniture legs.
Polycare is a good hardwood floor cleaner which we keep in stock for your convenience.

HOW TO CARE FOR ACCIDENTS ON YOUR HARDWOOD FLOOR:
SCRATCHES:

To cover white scratches you can use Old English Scratch Remover and you can also use Mayonnaise (not Miracle Whip). Simply rub into the scratch and gently wipe off. You may have to reapply when the scratch surfaces again. Larger or deeper scratches may need to be refinished.

GREASE:

Wipe with a cloth slightly dampened with lighter fluid then buff with a clean dry cloth.

FOOD, WATER, AND PET STAINS:

Remove with a damp cloth and buff with a clean cloth.

WAX OR GUM:

Put some crushed ice in a plastic bag and apply to area until the material is brittle enough to crumble off the floor surface. Remove what is left using a cloth dampened with a mild cleaning solution and buff with a clean dry cloth.
